Public bug reported:
The Ubuntu installer detects 4 or more (primary) partitions during
installation and suggests to erase the disk and therefore remove Windows
(first option) instead of resizing the Windows partition and add
necessary Ubuntu partitions (e.g. "Install along side" option, which is
not displayed).
This may be caused by a missing check of the target systems partition
table type (assuming that installation is not possible on a drive where
there are 4 primary partitions, which is not true for GPT). Resizing
manually and choosing installation option "Something else" works with
14.04.
The device used for testing was of the Toshiba Satellite NB10-A-10
(NB10-A-10N) model line with OEM preinstalled Windows 8. The issue was
reproducable (restoring untouched from diskdump).
** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
