Public bug reported:

My system is (sort of) Ubuntu 12.04.

This error happened after extensive tinkering. I started with elementary
OS, added the Lubuntu desktop, removed the Lubuntu-desktop and the
elementary OS desktop, installed Gnome desktop environment... and at
some point I was missing a file needed for this package (plymouth-theme-
ubuntu-text) to install. I used "sudo touch ..." to add the file. The
file was "/lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-text/ubuntu-text.plymouth.in". I
did not specifically intend to install this package (plymouth-theme-
ubuntu-text)... it just wanted to be installed at a certain point along
with other packages.

tl;dr: good luck, I have no idea what happened, besides:

I updated my system, including the plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text package
using update-manager.

A file was missing at "/lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-text/ubuntu-
text.plymouth.in"

I added it with "touch", ie "sudo touch /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-text
/ubuntu-text.plymouth.in"

the package installed properly after that.

I am submitting this bug report just in-case it is helpful. feel free to
ignore if it doesn't seem important.
