Public bug reported:

[Test Case]

1) Disable smt using:
  ppc64_cpu --smt=off

2) Start a KVM VM with something like the following:
qemu-system-ppc64 -enable-kvm -M pseries -cpu host -smp cores=8,threads=1 <more parameters>

3) Try to enable smt while the VM is running:
  ppc64_cpu --smt=on

** Description changed:

  [Test Case]

  1) Disable smt using:
- ppc64_cpu --smt=off
+   ppc64_cpu --smt=off

  2) Start a KVM VM with something like the following:
  qemu-system-ppc64 -enable-kvm -M pseries -cpu host -smp cores=8,threads=1 <more parameters>

  3) Try to enable smt while the VM is running:
- ppc64_cpu --smt=on
+   ppc64_cpu --smt=on

What happens is that SMT is not enabled until you stop the VM.
+
+ If enabling SMT while using kvm_nv is not possible it would be good to
+ at least have an error message.
