This bug was fixed in the package syslinux - 3:6.03+dfsg-8ubuntu2

syslinux (3:6.03+dfsg-8ubuntu2) wily; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/0001-SYSAPPEND-Fix-space-stripping.patch: backport fix to
    space stripping in sysappend functions. (LP: #1484571)
  * debian/control: revert the previous change to build with GCC 4.9, and get
    back to GCC 5.

Bug description:
  STEPS:
  1. grab the latest image
  2. run it in kvm
  kvm -m 2048 -hda ubuntu-hda.qcow2 -cdrom wily-desktop-amd64.iso -boot d -vga vmware -soundhw ac97

  EXPECTED:
  I expect to see a menu screen and then the try ubuntu install ubuntu option screen

  ACTUAL:
  It does nothing (See screenshots)
