[Bug 1486324] [NEW] At End-of-Install for 14.04.03 on LVM (single O/S), grub fails to install; fatal error; forced to proceed without bootloader

Public bug reported:

1)  Downloaded ubuntu 14.04-3 on 2015-08-18.
2)  Installed onto /dev/sde (PCIe SSD) as LVM partitions.
3)  Install goes smoothly.
4)  At end of install, GRUB installation fails giving the options of
    a)  killing the install
    b) proceeding without a bootloader
    c)  installing grub on a particular device
5) First I try c)....on every freaking device.  Nada.  No soap.
6) Going to b), I attempt boot-repair.
7)  "GPT is detected" but no other information.
8)  tried to reinstall.  Threw this exception.
9)  Back to boot-repair???
