[Bug 1490521] [NEW] Ubuntu installer crashes when trying to install grub (using full disk encryption)

When trying to install the bootloader manually, I get the following
error:

grub-install: error: failed to get canonical path of `/cow'.

I should also mention that I am installing on /dev/sdb, not /dev/sda,
and that both disks were unpartitioned at the time of installing.
