10.04 has reached end of life and is no longer supported; are you still
seeing this on a currently supported release?

Title:
grub2 incorrectly detects windows OSs - this bad detection can lead to
loss of ext4 partitions
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2
Grub2 detects 2 windows partitions for me, "Windows Vista" and
"Windows Vista Recovery". The problem is that it got them the wrong
way around! This has extremely nasty consequences as the Recovery
automatically deletes all partitions that it does not understand -
including ext4!
Bad enough that it detects it incorrectly, Grub2 seems to provide no
simple override for this behaviour.
