i try also this code 
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* but its gives an error
rm: cannot remove 'var/lib/apt/lists/partial' is a directory 

i also update many times sudo apt-get update but every time it give same error 
please help... i am new user of ubuntu 14.04
