Title:
"/dev/sda6 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive." blocks grub
  installation

Status in grub package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

I want to install Karmic's grub stage1 into the boot sector of a
partition (rather than the whole hard disk) so that I can chain onto
it from the Jaunty install which is the main system on my laptop.
However, when I try to run grub-install I get

  mbp at lithe% sudo grub-install /dev/sda6
/dev/sda6 does not have any corresponding BIOS drive.

I'm pretty sure this did work in previous releases.
