Title:
  [karmic-amd64] fancontrol process not running

Status in grub package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub

I'd recently experienced what I'd thought was an overheat, and I've
discovered that the fancontrol process is not running; and
additionally, the pwmconfig script isn't working, so I'm out of
options as a Linux Novice... Could somebody please tell me how I can
possibly fix this, before I burn out yet another motherboard, CPU
  and/or integrated graphics card?
