Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

This was reported against a very old release so I'm going to close it.
If you still have the issue please reopen.

Title:
  Clean install fails to boot.

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

Installed UNR 9.10 on a netbook that already had Windows 7 on it.
After finishing the install, I cannot boot into it. Selecting the
2.6.31-14-generic kernel from Grub2 only leads to the system
restarting (or very rarely, just displaying a blank screen with a
blinking cursor on it). The symptoms are very close to those of
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/465350 with the
exception that on my system removing the splash option from the line
that loads the kernel won't work either. Thus I'm completely shut out
  of my new Ubuntu installation.

Ironically enough, GRUB detected Windows 7 just fine and manages to
boot into it without a problem, so my problem seems to be pretty much
the opposite of just about everyone else running Karmic and Windows 7
  as dual-boot.
