Thanks Martin. Which logs should I post? I started seeing the message
after upgrading to nvidia-331 driver. It doesn't seem to cause any
problems, just the error message at startup, "failed to apply ACL on
/dev/dri/card1: no such file or directory". A quick search shows many
users reporting this on other distros as well.

Title:
failed to apply ACL on /dev/drv/card1

Status in udev package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
During start up of Ubuntu 14.04, the message "failed to apply ACL on
/dev/dri/card1 " appears, then start up continues, but everything runs
slowly, and occasionally fades to monochrome before returning to
normal display. I have looked at /dev/dri/, but the only file there
  is card0. Any ideas please?
