Title:
Upgrading Hardy desktop to Lucid desktop crashes, when multiple
  graphic cards are present

Status in update-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

On a system which multiple monitors, supported by multiple graphic cards,
the on board graphic card needs to be blacklisted to prevent kernel panick during boot.

This is described by related bug
297234 Blacklist confused by additional video card

This prevents straightforward instalation of UBUNTU from liveCD disks.
On my system, with three monitors, the Hardy Heron with entry

  blacklist agpgart

  in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

worked OK. During upgrade, system became unbootable and files (listed
in appendix) were listed as involved in the crash.

After installing the Lucid from the scratch (by removing extra graphic cards)
  the following lines in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
#Added 14.2.2011 for MultiHead card support
  blacklist i915
  blacklist vga16fb
  blacklist intel-agp
  install i915 /bin/true
  install vga16fb /bin/true
  install intel-agp /bin/true
