Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

  hi all,
  If we have two sources for the lucid, lucid-updates, etc repositories e.g. Ubuntu's servers and then Company's LAN hosted mirrors, having both entries in sources.list (and by extension sources.list.d), the update manager system should be able to pick the locally available packages. Benefits of this approach being that in places where internet usage is monitored, ubuntu users are able to update without it 'costing' them. Next thing, its also faster if its over local network. Very relevant in Africa where broadband speeds are not like Europe and internet bandwidth is still expensive.
  I am not sure how its implemented, but maybe ping the server to see or just see which sources resolve to local IPs.

  I know the way around is to disable the ubuntu sources manually, but
  then everytime the user changes network (eg.. home and office) they
  have to manually enable.
