I should add that I installed manually, 'Something else', with sda6 as
root and sda2 as swap.

  Confirmed

Bug description:
  2015-10-27 Xubuntu xenial-desktop-i386 image.

  After installing the image on Virtual Box (install entire disk), and
  at the prompt "Installation Complete" upon clicking the "Restart now"
  button the system hanged and didn't reboot, forcing a hard shut-down.

  I'm adding a compressed tar archive of the /var/log/installer
  directory.
