sdd7 does not appear to have a filesystem formatted in it.  You need to
install grub to a partition with a compatible filesystem in it, or to
the whole disk ( /dev/sdd ), which is the preferred method.

Bug description:
  While installing Ubuntu on a existing drive, i choose a new partition
  for the boot loader. This partition is on the middle of the disk. It
  let me do ti but seems it does not work.
