Title:
Ubuntu 14.5 install lists wrong other OSes in login screen
Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
this may be a Linux error but it occurs on Ubuntu 15.4 install. I
also run Win XP because of some software that doesn't run on Ubuntu.
The login list created by Ubuntu lists two OSes, one that hasn't been
on my computer for several years (WinXP 64 bit) and one that I deleted
the disk partition it was installed on (Win 7), created a new
partition in that space, and reformatted it as NTFS. But the two
entries on my Win XP boot drive boot.ini file are NOT listed in the
Ubuntu boot list. In fact, if you select the entry for Win 7, it
takes you to the Win XP boot list. This is a glaring install error
that needs to be fixed. Why does Linux-Ubuntu not check the boot.ini
file and put those in the Ubuntu boot list screen? Why are non-
existent OSes listed instead. A major bug.
