Public bug reported:

Upgrading 14.04.2 to 14.10 hangs on "Calculating Upgrades". I have ran the following commands numerous times and in numerous orders:
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get dist-update
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I have even deleted the "apt.log" file in /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log after finding that in a forum.
Running grep ERROR /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log returns:
ERROR Dist-upgrade failed: 'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'

Package manager says all packages are up to date.
