[Bug 1572971] [NEW] grub2 failing to create grub menu (and possibly corrupting the boot-drive)

Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of  the Xenial test-iso along side an 14.04
install on a desktop with dual-screen, no option in grub menu to chose
new installation. Boots straight into 14.04 where Gparted reports boot-
drive to be corrupted.

Can't use ubuntu-bug, but i can access the new partition from the old
install. Let me know what log files i can provide you with
