Title:
Logout on first attempt fails, killing desktop icons

Status in unity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I've done a fresh install (upgrade) of ubuntu 16.04. When I click on
Logout button, all the icons on the desktop disappear, however I donot
get logged out. I repeat the process and this time I get logged out.

I tried this multiple times and the problem is consistent. Even tried
restarting the system however the problem persists.

Additionally, a few panel indicators also fail to start when I login
after the above method of logging out.
