[Bug 1608256] Re: 16.04.1, initial install, non-UEFI system: package shim-signed 1.18~16.04.1+0.8-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

Hello Steve,

after having managed the installation I would like to give you my idea
of an answer to the reported failure. The system was supposed to be
installed from a live-USB using UEFI. This requires several predefined
partitions to make the system work properly. As you can see from the
report, no EFI-partition was declared. Thus the installation had to end
in a failure. It was my first UEFI installation. On the one hand I
should have informed myself better in advance, on the other hand the
Ubuntu error messages could be a little more informative in order to
push the user to his/her mistakes.

My system works properly now and I hope this will last for a longer
period of time.

All the best and thanks for your assistance

Peter Kuehnel
