That doesn't sound like a bug in Ubuntu.

It is certainly not a bug in the nfs-utils package; nfs-utils is for the
NFS network filesystem, and has nothing to do with NTFS volumes.

  File explorer crashes

Status in nfs-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  So every time I try to transfer files from one area of the drive to
  another it will work for about 3 or for files then it freezes and
  crashes.. saying it can not find the drive.. In this case it changed
  both of the folders to a HOME folder and unmounted my external. NOW i
  get a warning when I try to connect ext hd that says it can not mount
  it.  iTs new and has worked fine until now.  I try it on a windows
  machine and it loads right away.

  I am on LInux Rafael Mint 17.2
