Your disk is partitioned using the DOS partition table. You need to
repartition it using GPT in order to boot in UEFI mode.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)

Title:
another failed grub install with 16.04

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I thought the problem was uefi related so I made sure to have a small
fat32 partition at the very beginning but unfortunately I could find
no way to add in the boot flag to it during the 16.04 install process.
It is possible that uefi failed since there was no boot flag.
