Thanks, Phillip, that is a great help.  I really appreciate it.

As I said, I am new to Ubuntu/Linux, and so far I am really impressed.
I love figuring things out, but with a four-year-old and other time
commitments, it is really tough to find the time to learn all the fine
details.  I have found these kinds of intricacies challenging
(installing, updating, finding software) -- especially when I just want
things to work -- so thanks for taking the time to spell it out for me.
I'll make the edit when I get home later tonight (I hope).  Then I'll
run the update again.  Thanks again for your kind help!
