Title:
grub-pc cannot be installed or uninstalled
Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: grub2
My system is a 64 bit version of 9.10. I have my boot drive with two
physical disks in a raid 1 using mdadm. I upgraded from 9.04, so
grub-pc was not part of the upgrade. However, my grub menu stopped
working (didn't listen to ESC at boot up) so I tried to install grub2
(grub-pc).
The apt-get installation of grub-pc failed, but first uninstalled
grub. I needed to boot from a live CD and use its version of grub
(grub-pc refused to write to a RAID array) to get my system booting
again. Although my system boots now, I can now no longer install
either grub or grub-pc.
I'm posting the apt-get messages I get when trying to fix my system
below. I would be happy with any solution that leaves me with a
functioning version of grub or grub-pc.
Thanks!
Patrick
