Title:
[lucid beta1 livesystem] plymouthd crashed with SIGSEGV in memcpy()

Status in plymouth package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: plymouth

I tried to disable the splash screen on the live system by deleting
"quiet splash" and adding vga=711. Then I choosed point 5 for vga. I
Didn't know about plymouth because I used lucid the first time and I'm
used to Hardy Heron, which is pretty old.

BTW: How can I disable plymouthd on boot to see all messages directly
on tty1 in the case that the framebuffer of plymouthd is not
functional? That was not the case for my setup, but I ask this because
I tried to support someone who left with a black screen and a boot up
hang. Therefore I tried to diable the splash. On the black framebuffer
screen I tried to change to tty1 but that didn't work no longer. That
might happened due to the crash.

This bugreport might be a duplicate of #540237.
