There is no support on such deprecated version; that one has died long
time ago.

Title:
On first boot post-install only see "GRUB" with blinking cursor

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

Using lucid lynx beta2, clean install to /dev/sdb1 (there are also
/dev/sda, /dev/sdc disks and /dev/sdd cdrom) results in "GRUB " with
  blinking cursor post-install.

Reboot and "grub-install" in VT shell fixes it. (gnome-session and
gnome-panels were too broken to use after first boot, panels not
displaying unless I hit alt-f1, tab over and keep changing monitor
  sizes, nautilus constantly crashing, etc)

This is an old dual-athlon machine with Matrox G450 dual-VGA out. Ran
SuSE for several years with no issues.
