You are attempting to install in bios mode to a disk that is partitioned
using GPT.  You either need to create a 1 mb bios_grub partition,
install in EFI mode instead ( and create an EFI system partition ), or
reformat the disk and use MBR instead of GPT.

  grub to sda (and after that every sdX) failed, and when proceeding
  without installing the grub, installer crashes.
