According to your logs, you tried to install grub to /dev/sda and this
can not be done because it is partitioned with GPT and you are booting
in bios mode, but have no bios_grub partition.  If you wish to install
grub to /dev/sdd, then choose the "something else" option, configure
your partitions, and select /dev/sdd as the location to install grub to.

  Bootloader failed to install on /dev/sda

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Towards the end it fails to install the bootloader (assuming grub2) to
  disk /dev/sda. My boot disk is /dev/sdd which I select from the
  dropdown and press the button to install but the installer crashes.

  Selecting skip option also crashes.
