Ran across this report and just wanted to add that as a workaround it is possible to run the output through sort, like this:
`env | sort`
So I don't know whether the developers would wish to add and maintain an
equivalent option.

Title:
Option to sort the output
Status in coreutils package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 dev with coreutils 8.25-2ubuntu2 and if I'm
executing env the environment variables listed there are unsorted.
Maybe env could also provide an option that sorts the output of the
environment variables and maybe this could also be the default and
instead an option to disable this behavior could be provided.
