[Bug 1638156] [NEW] Users should be warned when using a non-persistent installation

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Users should be given a warning when using a non-persistent "Try Ubuntu"
USB stick.

I had about eight hours of work thrown away because I started doing work
on a Ubuntu USB stick and didn't realize it wasn't persistent until I
rebooted and my work was gone.  I'm an experienced software developer --
if it could happen to me, it would definitely happen to the average
user.

The problem is that with every normal OS setup a user has ever used
(Windows, MacOSX, ...) when you save a file to "disk", the change is
persistent.  Because of this the expectation, even when booting from a
USB key, is that changes will be persistent.

A warning dialog box on boot, and/or a warning wall-paper would help
prevent others from losing hours as I did.
