I wonder about this, from the log:

SyntaxError: invalid syntax


I have 4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 as well.
And I see:
    posix_acl = smbd.get_sys_acl(self.tempf, smb_acl.SMB_ACL_TYPE_ACCESS

So - corrupted file maybe?
Could you run:
$ dpkg --verify python-samba
I'd expect it to show something like:
??5??????   /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/samba/tests/posixacl.py

That means for whatever reason that is broken.
I hope your disk/memory is ok.

In any case with that could you try clean and reinstall the package with:
apt-get clean
apt-get --reinstall install python-samba

Please let us know what you find doing so.
