You appear to be using a custom install image that contains
unauthenticated packages.

  attempting to install on intel compute stick

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Attempting to install from a USB stick to the Intel Compute Stick MMC
  (32GB Internal MMC Drive).  All is good then fails at grub install.
  On reboot - can't see the MMC as a valid boot device :(
