You tried to install grub to an NTFS partition, which you can't do.
Install it to the whole drive instead.

  Tried to dual boot install with existing win 7 on M.2 SSD drive.
  Grub wouldn't install to the nvme drive. Wouldn't allow me to select
  the windows loader drive for grub dual boot install
