What version of vim and Ubuntu are you using?

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1637022

and then set the status of the bug report back to "New".

  set your ~/.vimrc file to this:

  set paste
  set expandtab

  Works as expected.

  Then set ~/.vimrc to this:

  set expandtab
  set paste

  
  WTF!!!
