Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

Title:
failed install on new ssd ( grub efi didn't install) - ssd not showing
  in efi either in uefi

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
brand new ssd samsung evo 850. new to ubuntu and found i had to format ssd so to get working in efi (uefi ) on asus f555ua machine. formatted ssd using windows 10 via usb connection.
uefi does not recognize the actual ssd and cannot now wipe using samsun software which seems to be only way (must be connected via laptop internal connection and no other pc to use to do so here).

in order to even think of installing ubuntu editing grub at initial start up adding "pci=nomsi" is required to left of quiet splash (there is a forum stating so also - trouble installing ubuntu on asus f555ua or such. have ubuntu16.04 dual booting with win 10 pro onstock 1tb hd (non ssd) and now networking problem (as in disconneted all time and no code to get working in terminal) along with some botched install of two stage shut down (log out then again shut down) but ... besides that other problem i am trying to install ubuntu16.04 via the sd i am mentioning here. unsure if selecting erase everything will fix the problem.
another thing i now remember is warnig saying started in uefi but a os or so may be installed via bios (see uefi not recognizing the ssd samsung 850 preformatted using windows in above statement), tried making a root partition of 20gb and rest a home partition. warned i needed some setting to efi in boot loader but only option is sda or sda1 - one is longer in words but neither state efi or uefi. Ubuntu install claims it is a bug so i will treat it as such.

sory i am such a mess as describing problem. going to hook up other
hard drive via external usb and boot if i can along with samsung in
internal connection and hopefully wpe it. first time i did a ssd was
in a hp with 14.04 and that machine finally died (bios not uefi) so i
am back to new and with a thousand dollar paperweight for last year so
  far.
