Your EFI system partition is corrupt; you will need to repair it with
dosfsck or Windows' chkdsk/scandisk.

** Changed in: grub-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
  live-usb installer failed at grub2 installation

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Tried to reinstall Ubuntu 16.04 from a Live USB stick, since the
  original install did not dual boot between Windows10 and Ubuntu. In
  between I tried several Bios/Uefi options (....grrr) and had to
  reinstall Windows10 to be able to boot the Dell Latitude Ultrabook
  6430u at all. Ubuntu reinstall fails at grub2 installation (pacakage
  grub-efi-amd64-signal failed to install into /target/.). Tried to
  reinstall with several options (download updates y/n and third partiy
  software y/n) and also with a fresh live-usb. Fails in all cases. In
  Windows10: \EFI\ubuntu directory seemed corrupt, has no files.
