With all due respect I have to object the resolution of invalid:

Installing golang-go will pull in golang-1.7-go golang-1.7-race-
detector-runtime golang-1.7-src golang-go golang-race-detector-runtime
and golang-src. And I will end up with a go 1.7 executable on the path.

(after apt install golang-go ontop golang-1.8-go)
$ go version
go version go1.7.4 linux/amd64

What is the point of having a golang-1.8-go meta package if it does not populate the path proper?

** Changed in: golang-1.8 (Ubuntu)
