Strangely the spotweb package does not exist in Ubuntu 16.04, so that is
likely the cause of the ugprade failure if you remove the package you
should be able to upgrade.

  did a sudo do-release-upgrade
  started but ended with the message An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

  1) lsb_release -rd
  Description:    Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

  2) upgrade to 16.04

  3) Expected the system would upgrade

  4) message "An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the
  upgrade." Upgrade stopped
