It looks like you're trying to install under a UEFI environment. Did you
do manual partitioning? Becuse it looks like grub-install is unable to
find the EFI partition it needs:

  Aug 23 09:04:15 ubuntu ubiquity: grub-install: error: cannot find EFI
directory.

(from the Ubiquity syslog  file).
