Please note that (I think) the upgrade is failing because it's
attempting to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10 (utopic) which is a no longer
supported release. This is due to the configuration file for update-
manager being set to:

  Prompt=normal

Adjust this to

  Prompt=lts

to get update-manager to upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial). You can do
this either through an editor, or through the "Software and Updates"
tool; at the bottom of the Updates tab, there is a setting "notify me of
a new ubuntu version" -- select "For long-term support versions".
