Title:
Can't create GPG key - it stop before asking for passphrase

Status in gnupg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  My distribution: lubuntu 16.04
  environment: encrypted home drive

I have run the following to create the key for signing

  gnu --gen-key

The program interactively asks for information and it was provided
  accordingly.

  at the end I receive

  Change (N)ame, (C)omment, (E)mail or (O)kay/(Q)uit? o
You need a Passphrase to protect your secret key.

It doesn't ask for passphrase and appears to be hung.
pressing <ctrl>-C I get the following

  gpg: Interrupt caught ... exiting

I tried to look for the log and there seems to be non.
