[Bug 1656198] [NEW] Software Updater download list squashed

Public bug reported:

When the software update tool downloads updates, the list that displays
the downloads is squashed so that only about one line of text is
displayed.

I *think* the issue began when I upgraded to 16.10. I have the same
problem on 2 machines (both upgraded to 16.10).
