I use an Xbox controller for IV on the PC and have no worries.
In a previous post a month or so ago I said I would do the same and switching between them wouldn't be a problem. Place the controller in the space between your arms in front of the keyboard. When you need to change the animation of either getting into a vehicle or getting out and having full control of the character will allow you enough time to switch from one to the other.
Looking forward to the PC release.
