It appears you have installed the nvidia drivers but were not prompted
to disable secureboot on your system due to bug #1679784.  As a result
the nvidia drivers will not be loaded by the kernel due to the security
policy for signed kernel modules.

This bug has been fixed in later versions of the software-properties-
common package.

To recover your system, you should be able to run 'sudo update-
secureboot-policy --disable' from the console and follow the prompts.
