No as that varies from bios to bios.  You can tell right away though
which mode you are in because in bios mode, you get the LILO boot screen
with the menus to choose language and advanced options and other things
bound to function keys listed on the bottom of the screen.  If you boot
in EFI mode, you get the GRUB menu with the bare 2-3 lines of choices
for booting Ubuntu or running memtest.

Bug description:
  I tried to install ubuntu with my USB ( booting with windows 10 that i
  already have) and when it's installing suddently they tell me : ' le
  paquet grub-efi-amd64 n'a pas pu être installé dans /target/. En
  l'absence du rpogramme de démarrage GRUB, le système installé ne
  pourra pas démarré ' i have done it on french .. i couldnt translate
  sorry
