To install Ubuntu in bios mode on a disk with GPT as partition table,
you have to create a "bios_grub"-partition as first parition on the
disk, size: 1 MiB, without filesystem.

  I would love to have ubuntu but its taken hours to get nowhere at all.
  I have watched several videos on youtube trying to figure out the
  problem. Nothing has worked so far. Please help.
