Public bug reported:

I was unable to install Skype on Ubuntu because it did not regognize my
password, so I used Windows instead. Windows repaired itself yesterday
and today when I tried to get into ubuntu the boot manager did not
provide me with an option to do so, so I tried a full reinstall.
