This is not a bug with the upgrade process, rather with some software
after upgrading Ubuntu.

** Package changed: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) => ubuntu

Title:
  Date format in top rh corner of screen is wrong.

Status in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Despite correctly selecting the regional date format (for the UK) the date summary in the top right hand corner of the screen shows as (e.g.) Mon May 29 instead of the preferred format of: Mon 29 May.
  Using Settings > Language Support > Regional Formats and clicking the button: Apply System wide, the above-mentioned date is still incorrect whereas clicking this date to bring up the calendar, the date shown in this pop-up (pop-down) is in the preferred format.

  This used to display correctly under Ubuntu 16.10 but has gone wrong
  since upgrading to 17.04.
