No apt-ghetto, partman has a number of scripts that try to keep users
from making simple mistakes. This particular one is missing or
defective ( I seem to recall seeing one in there for this but apparently
it isn't working ).
** Package changed: grub-installer (Ubuntu) => partman-efi (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: partman-efi (Ubuntu)
Status: Invalid => New
** Summary changed:
- Installing GRUB EFI failed on USB3 stick.

Title:
Partman should warn about not having an EFI system partition
Status in partman-efi package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
When trying to install to an EFI system, partman-efi should have a
check.d script to make sure there is an EFI system partition rather
than just letting grub-install crash later.
